Diet and Nutrition
Our horses are fed a daily ration of Blue Seal horse feed. The pregnant mares receive 1.5% of their body weight daily of Blue Seal`s Mare and Foal. After foaling the mare will continue to receive Mare and Foal until they are finished lactating. We feed the foals Blue Seal`s Mare and Foal 1.0% of their body weight daily until they are one year old. We then switch them to a Blue Seal mixture that is suited to their daily workouts. Our Stallion is fed Blue Seal`s Demand to provide more fat and fiber because he gets much more exercise.
Our horses have daily access to fourteen acres of fertile pasture. During inclement weather and the winter months we supplement their grain with bales of high quality hay and alfalfa. Since we want them to produce nice foals we believe in providing them the best feed and grain possible.
We do not have any standing water at Golden Gait Stables (no mosquito problem) therefore, we constantly have fresh water in each pasture and stall.
